8.12.24 MTSS/ELI/FAST/Panorama Updates

Iowa Department of Education

It’s August and time to wish for that last mini-vacation of the summer. It’s also time to start preparing for the new year.

FastBridge rosters are loading

FastBridge is processing rosters and displaying students. Not seeing students? Start here for troubleshooting: Iowa: Troubleshooting Rosters and Student Demographics

  • Is your SIF agent sending 24-25 data?
  • Are missing students actively enrolled, scheduled to classes that are assigned to a teacher, and do they have a State Student ID? Have there been name changes?
  • Please ignore extra students for the time being, but make sure that you have correctly ended their enrollment records and class schedules within your SIS. Most extra students should clear out within a few weeks as enrollments stabilize.
  • If you need assistance, use the Contact Us link in the FastBridge system and provide specific details (teacher name, student name, grade, district and building name).

Note: Panorama is expected to be processing rosters for Student Success this week as well.

Panorama Student Success training opportunity

Panorama and the Iowa Department of Education will host a one hour webinar designed as an orientation to Iowa’s Student Success application for new users or refresher for veterans. The session will cover basic system functions. This session is being offered twice with the same content and will also be recorded and posted in the resource library. Each participant needs to register to attend. Use these links to register:

September 10, 3p CST

September 18, 10a CST

Panorama has also produced a series of brief “How To...” videos that can be found in the resource library.

FastBridge training opportunity

In September FastBridge will release recorded webinars also designed as an orientation for new users or refresher for veterans. The links will be posted here once available. For now, please make sure to check out the training and resources tab in FastBridge, as well as the knowledge base. Check the Iowa section of the knowledge base first, because articles there are customized for Iowa users.

Default assessment collection deadline (for ELI law) is August 19th

The default assessment collection is open for those who did not complete their selections in June. The last opportunity to make changes and updates is August 19th. If you received a reminder, please complete the collection ASAP. We also encourage ALL school leaders to make sure to review the selections made in CASA to be sure they are correct. Ask the CASA team to reopen the collection if changes are needed. And most of all, please make sure everyone in your schools knows what was selected so that the correct assessments are used. We are trying to prevent requests to change assessments once testing begins.

Attendance update

The Iowa Department of Education has developed a new Attendance and Chronic Absenteeism webpage. Included on this page is an Attendance Coding Technical Assistance document that provides suggested attendance codes that will help schools meet the new truancy law requirements of SF 2435. Look for specific details for attendance coding and setup for each student information system. We strongly encourage adopting these attendance codes for consistency and clarity of data, as well as to support compliance with the new requirements related to truancy. Learn more about attendance reporting in Student Success.

Fall screening

The fall screening window opens August 26th. Please do not make changes to settings for the screening periods, assessment setup or Roster Sync in the FastBridge system. You may cause damage to your district setup by making changes to any of these settings. Also, be careful about disabling progress monitoring weeks. Coordinate at the district level and be aware that NO students can be monitored during a disabled week. There is no way to reset this once the week begins. If you have questions or concerns, please start by using the support resources to troubleshoot. If you need further assistance, use the Contact Us link within the system and please include specific details.

Model personalized reading plan

The Iowa Department of Education has released new technical assistance related to HF2618 for students in grades 4-6 in relation to Iowa's Early Literacy Law. Included in this information is a model reading plan to help schools meet the requirements of HF 2618.
