Student CFL: Steps to Prepare

As soon as possible

  • Ensure staff that need to receive communication or will monitor participation are set-up in the SIS (Student Information System) through the Portal, and have access to the Panorama MTSS system.
  • Identify dates between April 1-30, 2024 for Survey administration to 3rd-12th graders, including those that are learning online.
  • Make surveys available for parents to review, as requested.

At least two weeks prior to survey dates

  • Schedule laptop/computer lab time if necessary.
  • Inform students about Survey and administration dates.

At least one week prior to survey dates

  • Collect all forms from parents who request that their children not participate in the Survey (accept these forms through the administration date), and develop a reliable way to track these forms to ensure these students do not participate in the Survey.
  • Provide the Information Packet and Proctor Guide to any teachers or staff who will be acting as survey proctors.
  • Plan alternate activities for students not participating in the Survey.
  • If desired, create a shortcut to the Survey through student portal or on computers that will be used for the Survey administration.

The Iowa Department of Education and Panorama Learning team kicked off survey administration with a webinar on March 26th to provide an overview of the survey, process, logistics, and best practices to ensure a smooth administration and high response rates.
